Kerapu sirip hitam ( Epinephelus fasciatus ), juga dikenal sebagai kerapu sendok dan tika butong, adalah spesies dari ikan bersirip pari laut, kerapu dari subfamili Epinephelinae yang merupakan bagian dari famili Serranidae, yang juga termasuk anthias dan bass laut. Ini ditemukan di wilayah Indo-Pasifik tropis. Ini adalah jenis spesies dari genus Epinephelus .

Keterangan

Ikan kerapu sendok memiliki tubuh yang memiliki panjang standar yaitu sekitar 2,8 hingga 3,3 kali kedalamannya. Area antara ya datar tetapi profil dorsal kepala cembung. Preopercle yang membulat memiliki margin belakang yang bergerigi halus dengan gerigi terendah yang sedikit membesar. Tepi atas penutup insang lurus.^[2] Sirip punggung berisi 11 duri dan 15-17 jari lunak sedangkan sirip dubur memiliki 3 duri dan 8 jari lunak.^[3] Selaput di antara duri sirip punggung berlekuk dalam. Sirip ekor agak membulat. Ada 49-75 sisik di gurat sisi .^[2] Warnanya bervariasi dan berkisar dari abu-abu kehijauan pucat hingga kuning kemerahan pucat hingga merah tua. Mereka sering memiliki 5 atau 6 batang gelap samar, yang terakhir berada di pangkal ekor. Sisik-sisik pada tubuh bagian atas memiliki bagian tengah yang pucat dan tepi belakang yang gelap, yang menciptakan pola kotak-kotak yang tidak jelas. Selaput luar bagian berduri sirip punggung berwarna hitam, atau merah tua pada spesimen dari Australia Barat dan beberapa dari perairan dalam. Ada bintik kuning atau putih pucat di bagian belakang ujung setiap duri sirip punggung. Spesies ini mencapai panjang total maksimum 40 sentimeter (16 in), meskipun panjang yang lebih umum adalah sekitar 22 sentimeter (8,7 in), dan berat 20 kilogram (44 pon) .^[3]
