Kentang pirang

Kentang pirang merupakan salah satu jenis kentang yang berukuran besar, dengan kulit berwarna coklat tua dan berbintil sedikit. Dagingnya berwarna putih, kering, lembut, dan bertepung, serta cocok untuk dipanggang, dihaluskan, dan kentang goreng . Kentang pirang terkadang dikenal sebagai kentang Idaho di Amerika Serikat, [1] tetapi nama Kentang Idaho merupakan merek dagang dari Komisi Kentang Idaho dan hanya kentang yang ditanam di negara bagian Idaho yang secara hukum dapat disebut dengan nama tersebut. [2]

Penggunaan

Rumah makan cepat saji seperti McDonald's menggunakan kentang piranh untuk ukurannya, yang menghasilkan potongan panjang yang cocok untuk kentang goreng . Pada tahun 2009, "umbi teratas McDonald adalah Russet Burbank". [3] Burbank russet lebih mahal dibandingkan kentang lainnya, karena mengkonsumsi lebih banyak air dan membutuhkan waktu lebih lama untuk matang, selain itu juga membutuhkan pestisida dalam jumlah besar.
