Kapal kargo kendaraan kelas Watson

Kapal kargo kendaraan kelas Watson adalah serangkaian kapal kargo kendaraan, digunakan oleh Amerika Serikat untuk Prepositioning dari kendaraan darat. Kelas ini terdiri dari delapan kapal dari Militer Sealift Command, sembilan belas Large, Medium Kecepatan-Roll-on/Roll-off dan merupakan salah satu bagian dari 33 kapal yang terlibat dalam Program Prepositioning.[1][2]

Kapal pemimpin kelas ini adalah USNS Watson. Kelas, seperti halnya kapal utama, dinamai Prajurit George Watson, Penerima Medal of Honor.

Watson telah ditetapkan pada tanggal 23 Mei tahun 1996, diluncurkan pada 26 Juli 1997 dan dimasukkan ke dalam layanan di Samudera Pasifik pada tanggal 23 Juni 1998. Kapal terbaru dari kelas yang USNS Soderman, diletakkan pada tanggal 31 Oktober 2000, diluncurkan pada 26 April 2002, dan mulai beroperasi di Samudra Pasifik pada 24 September 2002.
