Kampung Penabai adalah sebuah desa pesisir di Daerah Tutong, Brunei Darussalam, sekitar 4–5 kilometer (2,5–3,1 mil) dari kota distrik Pekan Tutong. Jumlah penduduknya adalah 749 jiwa pada tahun 2021.[1] Ini adalah salah satu desa di Mukim Pekan Tutong, sebuah mukim di distrik tersebut.[2]

Etimologi

Desa ini dinamai berdasarkan kelompok etnis Melayu Brunei yang bermigrasi ke daerah tersebut dari Daerah Brunei-Muara saat ini , sebagian besar merupakan keturunan orang Kampong Ayer.[3] Nama "Penabai" berasal dari Bunu Abai, nama dalam bahasa Tutong untuk orang Melayu Brunei. [3][4]

Fasilitas

Sekolah Dasar Pengiran Muda Mahkota adalah sekolah dasar desa; diresmikan pada tanggal 14 Oktober 1962 oleh Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III, Sultan Brunei saat itu.[3] Sekolah ini diberi nama setelah Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah yang saat itu adalah Putra Mahkota (Pengiran Muda Mahkota).[3]

Masjid Kampung Penabai, masjid desa, didirikan pada tahun 1981 awalnya sebagai surau.[3] Bangunan saat ini dibangun pada tahun 1993 dan dapat menampung 200 jamaah.[5]
