Kaisar Horikawa (堀河天皇, Horikawa-tennō, 8 Agustus 1079 – 9 Agustus 1107) adalah kaisar Jepang ke-73,[1] menurut urutan suksesi tradisional.[2]

Masa kekuasaan Horikawa berlangsung dari 1087 sampai 1107.[3]

Biografi

Sebelum naik ke Takhta Krisantemum, nama pribadinya (imina)[4] adalah Taruhito-shinnō (善仁親王).[5] Ia juga dikenal sebagai Yoshihito-tennō.[6]

Horikawa adalah putra dari Kaisar Shirakawa. Ibunya adalah Fujiwara no Kenshi (藤原賢子), putri angkat dari Fujiwara Morozane (藤原師実). Ibu susunya merupakan seorang wanita berbeda yang juga bernama Fujiwara no Kenshi (藤原兼子).
