Jay Subyakto (lahir 24 Oktober 1960) adalah seorang sutradara Indonesia. Jay merupakan anak ketiga dari Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut Republik Indonesia 1948-1959 Laksamana R. Subyakto yang berasal dari Banyumas, Jawa Tengah. Dari pihak ibunya Raharti Rachim Soebijakto, Jay adalah keponakan langsung dari Tokoh Proklamator RI Mohammad Hatta. Jay menamatkan pendidikan sarjana arsitekturnya dari Fakultas Teknik Universitas Indonesia angkatan 1981.

Karier

Kiprahnya di bidang seni berawal pada tahun 1990 dengan menjadi seorang sutradara video klip. Video klip garapannya yang bertajuk Pergilah Kasih milik alm. Chrisye menjadi video musik Indonesia pertama yang ditayangkan di channel MTV Asia yang pada waktu itu bermarkas di Hongkong. Tahun 2008, Jay juga menyutradarai video musik Anggun yang berjudul Berganti Hati. Video itu juga merupakan video pertama di Indonesia yang menggunakan kamera DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex).[1]

Kemudian, pada tahun 1994, ia bersama Erwin Gutawa membuat sebuah terobosan yang belum pernah dilakukan oleh orang Indonesia pada masa itu. Sebuah konser tunggal yang menghadirkan penyanyi tanah air, Chrisye . Kala itu, banyak promotor menghadirkan konser-konser penyanyi mancanegara. Tahun 2012 Jay terpilih sebagai Tokoh Seni 2011 pilihan Majalah Tempo.

Tahun 2017 menyutradarai film Banda, the Dark Forgotten trail dan meraih Piala Maya sebagai Film Dokumenter Panjang Terpilih 2017 dan Nominasi Piala Citra 2017 kategori Film Dokumenter Panjang Terbaik.
