Jaroslav Heyrovský

Jaroslav Heyrovský (20 Desember 1890 – 27 Maret 1967) adalah tokoh Cekoslowakia yang pada 1955, juga pada 1947 dan 1956 dinominasikan sebagai tokoh Ceko pertama yang menerima Penghargaan Nobel dalam Kimia untuk 'penemuan'-nya atas polarografi.

Jaroslav Heyrovský lahir di Praha dan belajar kimia, fisika, dan matematika di Universitas Charles, Praha, lalu melanjutkan studinya di University College, London. Pada masa ini ia belajar dengan Sir William Ramsay. Ia mendapatkan gelar Bachelor of Science pada 1913 dan bersama dengan Profesor Donnan ia mulai tertarik di bidang elektrokimia.

Ia mendapatkan gelar doktor pada 1918 dan untuk yang kedua kalinya pada 1923. Heyrovský memulai karier ilmiahnya di Universitas Charles, Praha di mana ia menjadi profesor kimia fisika pertama di sana.

Pada masa Perang Dunia II ia menjadi ketua Institut Polarografi di Univerzita Karlova. Setelah meninggal ia dimakamkan di pemakanan Vyšehrad.
