Ivan Aleksandrovich Pyryev (bahasa Rusia: Ива́н Алекса́ндрович Пы́рьев; (17 November [K.J.: 4 November] 1901, Kamen-na-Obi – 7 Februari 1968, Moskow) adalah seorang sutradara dan penulis latar Soviet-Rusia yang dikenal sebagai pendeta tinggi dari sinema Stalinis. Ia memenangkan enam Penghargaan Stalin (1941, 1942, 1946, 1946, 1948, 1951), menjabat sebagai Direktur studio Mosfilm (1954–57)[1] dan, pada suatu waktu, menjadi pria paling berpengaruh pada industri perfilman Soviet.

Pyryev lahir di Kamen-na-Obi, Altai Krai, Rusia. Karier awalnya meliputi akting di atas panggung yang diarahkan oleh Vsevolod Meyerhold dalam The Forest («Лес») dan oleh Sergei Eisenstein dalam produksi Proletcult Theatre The Mexican. Pyryev juga berakting dalam film pendek pertama Eisenstein' Glumov's Diary.[1] Karier awal Pyryev meliputi pengerjaan produksi di belakang kamera, seperti bekerja untuk sutradara Yuri Tarich.[2] Ia melakukan début sebagai sutradara pada zaman film bisu, dengan Strange Woman (Посторонняя женщина, 1929).[3]

Pada 1930an dan 1940an, Pyryev bersaing dengan Grigori Aleksandrov sebagai sutradara komedi musikal paling sukses di negara tersebut, yang semuanya dibintangi oleh istrinya, Marina Ladynina.[4] Pada masa perang, saat industri film Soviet dievakuasi ke Alma-Ata, Pyryev membuat film-film fitur.[5]
