Islam di Serbia adalah agama minoritas terbesar di Serbia. Menurut sensus 2020, 231.750 orang atau 3.2% dari total populasi Serbia adalah muslim.[1]

Sejarah dan penyusutan

Islam dibawa oleh tentara Kekaisaran Ottoman pada tahun 1389 dan 1448 melalui dua pertempuran Kosovo. Saat dikuasai oleh Kekaisaran Ottoman, populasinya berjumlah 500.000 orang. Namun, setelah lepas dari pemerintahan Kekaisaran Ottoman, jumlahnya menurun drastis menjadi 12.000 orang pada tahun 1834.[2]

Populasi dan Demografi

Menurut sensus 2011, ada 3.1% populasi Serbia beragama Islam. Menurut Pew Research Center, populasi muslim di Serbia akan meningkat menjadi 377.000 muslim atau 5.1% pada tahun 2030.

Distribusi geografi

Kotamadya Novi Pazar Pazar adalah rumah bagi populasi Muslim terbesar di Serbia, dengan 82.710 Muslim dari 100.410 penduduk (82% dari populasinya). Kotamadya Tutin memiliki jumlah Muslim tertinggi di Serbia, dengan sekitar 94% penduduknya adalah Muslim. Kota Sjenica juga memiliki populasi Muslim yang sangat besar (79%), diikuti oleh Kota Prijepolje (45%). Kebanyakan orang Albania, yang menganut agama Islam, yang tinggal di Preševo, Bujanovac dan Medveđa memboikot sensus 2011, tetapi statistik dari Sensus 2002 menunjukkan bahwa Muslim merupakan mayoritas di kota-kota tersebut dengan 89% dan 55%, masing-masing dan di Medveđa mereka berjumlah sekitar 29% dari populasi.

Wilayah Mayoritas

Mayoritas mereka tinggal di bekas wilayah Sandžak yang sebagian besar wilayahnya merupakan tempat tinggal bagi Muslim Serbia dan Muslim Bosnia. Mereka juga tinggal di kota Novi Pazar yang merupakan pusat resmi bagi Muslim Serbia.
