Injel hitam-kuning ( Holacanthus tricolor ), juga dikenal sebagai injel kuning-hitam, adalah spesies ikan laut bersirip pari, injel laut yang termasuk dalam famili Pomacanthidae . Ia dijumpai di barat Lautan Atlantik.

Keterangan

Injel hitam-kuning ini memiliki tubuh lonjong yang dalam dan tubuh yang padat, dengan moncong pendek, berakhir di mulut kecil yang dilengkapi dengan gigi seperti bulu. Terdapat tulang belakang besar di sudut preoperkulum yang memiliki tepi vertikal bergerigi. Tulang yang terletak di antara penutup insang dan penutup insang memiliki 1-4 duri berukuran besar.^[2] Tubuh dan sirip remajanya berwarna kekuningan, dengan bintik hitam berpinggiran biru di bagian posterior atas tubuh. Saat mereka dewasa, bintik itu membesar, akhirnya menutupi sebagian besar tubuh dan bagian bawah sirip punggung serta bagian atas sirip dubur .^[3] Kepala dan bagian anterior tubuhnya berwarna kuning, begitu pula sirip dada, perut, dan ekor . Mulutnya berwarna ungu.^[2] tepi depan sirip dubur dan tepi operkulum berwarna oranye. Pada bagian mata terdapat warna biru cerah pada bagian atas dan bawah iris . Pada sirip punggung terdapat 14 duri dan 17-19 jari lunak sedangkan sirip dubur terdapat 3 duri dan 18-20 jari lunak. Spesies ini mencapai panjang total maksimum 30 sentimeter (12 in) .^[4]

Distribusi

Injel hitam-kuning ini ditemukan di Samudera Atlantik Barat yang terbentang dari Bermuda dan perairan lepas Georgia dan Florida di selatan melalui Laut Karibia dan di sepanjang pantai Amerika Selatan hingga Rio de Janeiro. Hal ini jarang terjadi dan terlokalisasi di Teluk Meksiko di mana hanya terjadi di Flower Gardens Banks di lepas pantai Texas dan di luar Veracruz dan di Campeche Bank di Meksiko.^[5]
