Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial

Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) adalah disiplin ilmu yang mempelajari makhluk hidup dan benda mati di alam semesta beserta interaksinya, serta mengkaji kehidupan manusia baik sebagai individu maupun sebagai makhluk sosial yang berinteraksi dengan lingkungannya. Secara umum, ilmu pengetahuan didefinisikan sebagai kumpulan berbagai pengetahuan yang disusun secara logis dan sistematis dengan mempertimbangkan sebab dan akibat.[1] Pengetahuan ini mencakup ilmu pengetahuan alam dan ilmu pengetahuan sosial.[2]

Ilmu pengetahuan alam dan sosial pada kurikulum merdeka

Dalam Kurikulum Merdeka, mata pelajaran IPA dan IPS digabungkan menjadi satu mata pelajaran yang disebut Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS), dengan tujuan agar siswa mampu mengelola dan memahami lingkungan alam dan sosial secara terpadu.[3] Pembelajaran di SD/MI/Program Paket A harus memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta didik untuk melakukan eksplorasi, investigasi, dan mengembangkan pemahaman tentang lingkungan sekitar mereka. Oleh karena itu, mempelajari fenomena alam serta interaksi antara manusia dengan alam dan sesama manusia sangat penting dilakukan pada tahap ini.[2]

Tujuan pembelajaran ilmu pengetahuan alam dan sosial

IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) adalah mata pelajaran yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Tujuannya adalah untuk mempersiapkan siswa dalam memahami ilmu-ilmu alam dan sosial yang lebih kompleks di jenjang SMP. Mata pelajaran ini mengintegrasikan pembelajaran fenomena alam dan sosial sebagai fenomena yang saling berhubungan, mendorong siswa untuk mengamati, meneliti, dan mengembangkan keterampilan inkuiri yang penting sebagai landasan sebelum melanjutkan ke pendidikan yang lebih tinggi.[4]
