Idola virtual

Dalam dunia hiburan, idola virtual (juga disebut band virtual, grup musik kartun, atau penyanyi virtual) adalah band fiksi atau kelompok musik, atau penyanyi yang anggotanya tidak digambarkan sebagai musisi jasmani, tetapi merupakan karakter animasi atau avatar virtual. Meskipun hanya karakter fiksi, band itu sendiri sebenarnya eksis di luar alam semesta televisi dan film, dan benar-benar ada di dunia nyata. Musik dan konser idola virtual direkam dan ditampilkan oleh musisi dan produsen manusia dibalik avatar atau animasinya, tetapi dalam kebanyakan kasus, anggota fiktif band virtual juga dikreditkan sebagai penulis dan pemain lagu. Pertunjukan live band virtual bisa menjadi agak kompleks, membutuhkan sinkronisasi sempurna antara komponen visual dan audio pertunjukan.

Istilah idola virtual berasal dari Jepang, di mana ia berasal dari tahun 1980-an dan memiliki akar dalam budaya anime dan idola Jepang. Idola virtual populer misalnya penyanyi vocaloid Hatsune Miku dan Vtuber Kizuna AI.
