Ibnu Baththah al-Ukbari

Ibnu Baththah Al-‘Ukbari ialah seorang alim ahli hadits dan ahli fikih dari mazhab Hanbali. Ia lahir di Irak pada tahun 917 (304 H) dan wafat tahun 997 (387 H). Nama lengkapnya adalah Abu ‘Abdillah ‘Ubaidullah bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Hamdan bin ‘Umar bin ‘Isa bin Ibrahim bin Sa’d bin ‘Itbah bin Farqad Al-‘Ukbari Al-Hanbali.[1]

Ibnu Baththah memulai pendidikannya semenjak berusia belia di Baghdad. Kitab karangannya yang terkenal berjudul Al-Ibanah. Ia telah menuntut ilmu dari beberapa ulama seperti Abul-Qasim Al-Baghawi, Ibnu Sha’id, Abu Bakr bin Ziyad An-Naisaburi, Ismaa’il Al-Warraq, Al-Qadhi Al-Mahamili, Muhammad bin makhlad, dan yang lainnya. Sedangkan ulama yang mengambil ilmu darinya seperti Abul-Fath bin Al-Fawarid, Abu Nu’aim Al-Ashbahani, ‘Ubaidullah Al-Azhari, Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-‘Atiqi, Abu Ishaq Al-Barmaki, Abu Muhammad Al-Jauhari, dan yang lainnya.

Pengakuan terhadapnya

Imam Adz-Dzahabi berkata: “Ia seorang imam dalam sunnah dan fiqh”.[2] Ibnul Atsir mengatakan:“ Beliau seorang imam yang utama dengan hadits termasuk ulama fiqih Hanabilah”.[3]
