Hukum mim mati adalah salah satu tajwid yang terdapat dalam Al-Qur'an. Hukum ini berlaku jika mim mati bertemu huruf-huruf tertentu.
Hukum ini terdiri dari tiga jenis, yaitu:
Hukum bacaan Ikhfa' syafawi terjadi ketika ada mim sukun (مْ) bertemu huruf hijaiyah ba (ب) dengan membunyikan samar-samar di bibir disertai dengungan.[1]
تَرْمِيْهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ[2]
Apabila mim sukun (مْ) bertemu dengan mim yang berharokat (م), maka cara membacanya adalah seperti menyuarakan mim rangkap atau ditasyidkan dan wajib dibaca dengung. Idgham mithlain juga dikenali sebagai idgham mimi atau mutamasilain.
Contoh: (أَم مَنْ) (كَمْ مِن فِئَةٍ)
Apabila mim sukun atau mim mati (مْ) bertemu dengan salah satu huruf hijaiyah selain mim (م) dan ba (ب).[3]
