Hari Melampaui Batas

Hari Melampaui Batas (bahasa Inggris: World Overshoot Day, Earth Overshoot Day, Ecological Debt Day) adalah hari di mana sumber daya alam yang akan digunakan oleh manusia di sisa tahun yang sedang berjalan tidak dapat dikembalikan lagi.[1][2][3] Pada tahun 2013, Hari Melampaui Batas ditetapkan pada tanggal 20 Agustus. Diperingati secara tidak resmi sejak tahun 1987 oleh Global Footprint Network di mana pada tahun tersebut, tanggal 19 Desember adalah hari Melampaui Batas. Akan diperingati pada tahun-tahun berikutnya sebagai pengingat bahwa generasi saat ini sedang "meminjam" sumber daya alam yang seharusnya bisa dinikmati oleh generasi mendatang. WWF menggunakan istilah "meminjam" (borrowed)[1] dengan harapan agar bisa "dikembalikan" lagi.

Tanggal yang ditetapkan bukanlah hasil perhitungan yang 100 persen akurat, namun dari tahun ke tahun metode perhitungan terus direvisi sehingga angka yang didapatkan bisa lebih akurat. Meski begitu, pola hasil perhitungan tetap menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama manusia menggunakan sumber daya alam melebihi apa yang bisa dikembalikan oleh alam, dan "hutang" tersebut semakin bertambah.[3]
