Hardeep Singh Nijjar (11 November 1977 – 18 Juni 2023) adalah seorang pemimpin separatis Sikh Kanada[3] yang terlibat dengan gerakan Khalistan, yang menyerukan negara Sikh yang merdeka.[4]

Lahir di India, Nijjar bermigrasi ke Kanada pada pertengahan tahun 1990an.[5] Organisasi Sikh memandang Nijjar sebagai aktivis hak asasi manusia, sementara pemerintah India menuduhnya sebagai penjahat dan teroris yang berafiliasi dengan militan Pasukan Harimau Khalistan, dan meminta penangkapannya.[6][7][8] Nijjar dan para pendukungnya menolak tuduhan tersebut, dengan mengatakan bahwa ia menganjurkan cara-cara damai untuk pembentukan Khalistan.[8] Nijjar menjadi terkenal pada tahun 2019, ketika ia menjadi pemimpin Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara (kuil) di Surrey, British Columbia, dan menjadi pendukung separatisme Sikh.[9] Nijjar juga dikaitkan dengan Sikh untuk Keadilan (SFJ), dan mempelopori kampanye Referendum Khalistan 2020 kelompok tersebut.[8]

Pada tanggal 18 Juni 2023, Nijjar ditembak dan dibunuh di tempat parkir kuil Sikh di British Columbia.[10][11] Pada tanggal 18 September 2023, Perdana Menteri Kanada Justin Trudeau menyatakan bahwa badan intelijen Kanada "memburu tuduhan yang kredibel tentang kemungkinan adanya hubungan" antara agen pemerintah India dan pembunuhan Nijjar.[12] Setelah pembunuhan itu, Kanada mengusir seorang diplomat India dari negaranya. Kementerian luar negeri India membantah terlibat dalam pembunuhan tersebut, dan mengusir seorang diplomat penting Kanada sebagai aksi balas dendam.[13][14][15] Hingga Oktober 2023, pihak berwenang Kanada belum melakukan penangkapan apa pun sehubungan dengan pembunuhan tersebut,[16] dan Kanada tidak memberikan bukti yang menyiratkan keterlibatan pemerintah India.[17]
