Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Hakim al-Naisaburi (bahasa Arab: أبو عبدالله محمد بن عبدالله الحاكم النيسابوري; 321 H/933 M - 405 H/1014 M) atau terkenal dengan sebutan Al-Hakim saja, adalah salah seorang imam di antara ulama-ulama hadits dan seorang penyusun kitab yang terkemuka di zamannya. Namanya lengkapnya adalah Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Handawaihi bin Nu'aim al-Dhabbi al-Thahmani al-Naisaburi, juga terkenal dengan sebutan gelarnya Ibnu al-Baiyi.

Biografi

Ia dilahirkan di Naisabur pada pagi Jumat, bertepatan dengan 3 Rabiul Awal pada tahun 321 H. Ia pernah dilantik sebagai hakim di Naisabur pada tahun 359 H, sehingga dikenal dengan nama "al-Hakim". Ia wafat juga di Naisabur pada tahun 405 H.

Pendidikan agama

Awal pendidikan ilmu agama didapatkannya dari ayah dan bapak saudaranya, kemudian ia berguru pula kepada Abu Hatim bin Hibban pada tahun 334 H. Ia juga disebutkan telah belajar ilmu fiqih kepada seorang ulama besar di Naisabur, yaitu Ali bin Sahal Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Shaluki al-Syafi'i. Setelah itu pada tahun 340 H, ia berhijrah meninggalkan kampung halamannya menuju Irak. Di sana, ia mempelajari ilmu hadits dari Ali bin Ali bin Abi Khurairah, seorang faqih yang terkenal. Setelah menunaikan ibadah haji, ia kemudian bersafari mencari ilmu ke Khurasan dan negara-negara lain. Ia bertekad untuk mencari dan mengumpulkan hadits, hingga disebutkan bahwa ia telah mendengar hadits dari sejumlah besar para ulama, serta menurut riwayat gurunya berjumlah sekitar 1.000 orang.

Karya-karya

Terdapat banyak para ahli ilmu yang meriwayatkan hadits darinya, di antaranya Daruquthni, Abu Bakar Al-Qaffal Al-Syasy dan teman-temannya. Ia sentiasa bermuzakarah dan bermuhadharah bersama para ulama hadits, bahkan ia juga pernah bermubhahasah dengan Daruquthni. Selain itu, ia juga menghasilkan karya-karya berbentuk penulisan dalam pelbagai jenis ilmu. Di antara kitab-kitab karyanya yang terkenal, ialah Ma'rifat 'Ulum al-Hadits, al-Madkhal 'ala 'ilmi al-Shahih, al-Mustadrak 'ala al-Shahihain, Fadhail al-Imam al-Syafi'i, dan al-Amali.
