Habiru atau Apiru atau Ibrani adalah nama yang diberikan oleh berbagai sumber Sumeria, Mesir, Akkadia, Het, Mitanni, dan Ugarit (dari masa sekitar sebelum 2000 SM hingga sekitar 1200 SM) kepada sekelompok orang yang hidup di daerah Mesopotamia Timur Laut dan Bulan Sabit Subur dari perbatasan Mesir di Kanaan hingga Iran.[1] Tergantung pada sumber dan zamannya, orang-orang Habiru ini digambarkan sebagai kelompok nomaden atau setengah nomaden, pemberontak, perampok, penyamun, tentara bayaran, hamba atau budak, tenaga buruh asing, dll.

Nama Habiru dan Apiru digunakan dalam teks-teks huruf paku bahasa Akkadia. Nama yang sepadan dengan tulisan Mesir yang hanya terdiri dari konsonan tampaknya adalah `PR.W, yang secara konvensional diucapkan Apiru (W dalam bahasa Mesir menunjukkan akhiran jamak); {Contoh tentang bagaimana melihat kata ini dalam bahasa Mesir adalah: prU = pr, pr, pr // Keduanya adalah contoh dari bentuk jamak. pr juga digambarkan dengan "kaki yang berjalan", dan dengan "pr" untuk rumah, dan kombinasi dengan "r"}. Dalam catatan-catatan Mesopotamia mereka juga diidentifikasikan oleh logogram Sumeria SA.GAZ, yang tidak diketahui bagaimana pengucapannya.


Ada pula teori-teori yang menghubungkan bangsa Habiru dengan tokoh-tokoh Alkitab Eber dan Abraham. Sementara kebanyakan pakar sepakat bahwa silsilah yang ditelusuri dari Abraham didasarkan pada keyakinan budaya dan tidak memiliki landasan historis, ada pula yang merasa bahwa mungkin Eber mewakili kaitan etimologis dengan bangsa Habiru.
