Gua Plawan

Gua Plawan adalah gua air bawah tanah yang terletak di desa Gabug, Giricahyo, Purwosari, Gunungkidul. Gua plawan tidak pernah kering meskipun terjadi musim kemarau yang panjang. Gua ini memiliki kedalaman 170 m dari permukaan tanah dan mempunyai debit air kurang lebih 40 liter/detik dan ketika musim penghujan mencapai 200 liter/detik. Debit air yang besar tersebut gua plawan mempunyai potensi untuk mengatasi masalah kekeringan di desa Giricahyo yang memiliki 1095 KK atau 4085 jiwa.[1]

Eksploitasi Air

KKN UGM tematik berkesinambungan mulai dari tahun 2005 mengkaji dan mempersiapkan teknologi terbarukan untuk dapat menaikkan air bawah tanah gua plawan ke permukaan. Pada tahun 2007 water plant comunity, UGM, dan Kementrian Pekerjaan Umum membangun 240 panel sel surya (solar cell) dengan teknologi solar tracker yang dapat mengikuti gerak matahari dengan kapasitas 120 kWp mampu menaikkan 50 meter kubik air gua plawan ke permukaan dan dialirkan ke bak-bak penampungam yang ada di setiap dusun.

Namun, pada tahun 2010 teknologi teknologi PATS (Pompa Air Tenaga Surya) tersebut sudah tidak berfungsi karena kabel yang ada di dinding gua plawan telah dicuri oleh orang yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Sampai saat ini komponen komponen panel sel surya keadaannya memprihatinkan karena tidak pernah di rawat.[1]

Pengangkatan air di goa Plawan menggunakan tenaga surya merupakan yang terbesar di Indonesia di mana terdiri dari 240 panel sel surya (Solar Cell) dengan teknologi solar tracker yang dapat mengikuti gerak matahari dengan asumsi selama delapan jam bekerja setiap harinya yang kemudian ditampung di reservoir dengan kapasitas air sebesar 50 meter kubik. Program ini sangat diharakan dapat menyuplai air dengan debit 4 liter/detik, dengan penduduk desa Giricahyo yang berjumlah sekitar 4000 jiwa dengan asumsi 1000 jiwa adalah 1 liter/detik, maka sistem tersebut mampu mendistribusikan ke semua dusun yang ada di Desa Giricahyo.[2]
