Grimoaldo III dari Benevento

Grimoaldo III (wafat tahun 806) merupakan Pangeran Benevento, Lombardia dari tahun 788 sampai kematiannya. Ia adalah putra kedua Arechi II dan Adelperga. Pada tahun 787, ia dan kakandanya Romoaldo dikirim sebagai tawanan ke Charlemagne yang turun ke semenanjung Italia sampai ke Salerno untuk menerima penyerahan Benevento. Sebagai balasan atas perdamaian, Arechi mengakui kekuasaan Charlemagne dan menyerahkan Grimoaldo sebagai tawanan.

Ketika ayah dan saudaranya meninggal pada tahun 788, Grimoaldo diijinkan kembali ke Italia. Ia mengakui kekuasaan bangsa Franka, tetapi diijinkan secara praktis merdeka sebagai imbalan untuk membela Italia dari Bizantium. Pada tahun 788 ia menghadapi serangan Bizantium yang dipimpin oleh Adelchi, putra mantan raja Lombardia, Desiderius. Pasukan Franka di bawah Guinigisio dan Ildeprando dari Spoleto, bergabung dengan Grimoaldo dan mengalahkan Adelchi di pesisir tak lama setelah ia mendarat.

Kemudian, Grimoaldo mencoba untuk mengusir kekuasaan Franka, tetapi putra-putra Charlemagne, Pépin dari Italia dan Charles yang Lebih Muda, memaksanya untuk menyerah pada tahun 792.
