Gorengan adalah istilah yang mencakup berbagai jenis makanan yang dicelup adonan tepung dan kemudian digoreng rendam dalam minyak goreng panas yang banyak.

Gorengan di Asia

Di Indonesia gorengan adalah makanan ringan yang populer. Penjual gorengan dapat ditemukan di tepi jalan atau berkeliling dengan pikulan atau gerobak. Bahan-bahan yang dilapis adonan tepung dan digoreng antara lain: pisang, tempe, tahu, oncom, ubi, singkong, perkedel, lumpia, durian, cireng (Bahasa Sunda: Aci digoreng), yaitu tepung singkong digoreng, sukun, dan bakwan (di Jawa Barat disebut "bala-bala", "yéyé") yaitu adonan tepung yang dicampur cacahan kubis dan wortel. Salah satu jenis gorengan yang populer adalah Tahu Sumedang. Perkedel jagung dan perkedel kentang juga masuk dalam kategori gorengan. Gorengan biasanya dimakan dengan cabe rawit.

Di India antara gorengan yang terkenal ialah Vadai dan Pakora. Vadai dan pakora juga terkenal di Malaysia. Di Malaysia gorengan lain juga lazim ditemui, antara lain pisang goreng dan ubi goreng.

Gorengan di Eropa dan Amerika

Di Inggris Ikan goreng tepung populer dan biasanya ditemani dengan gorengan lain seperti kentang, nanas, dan apel yang digoreng tepung. Di Prancis dan Belgia kentang goreng populer sebagai makanan ringan.

Di Amerika Serikat, yang disebut gorengan adalah berbagai bahan utama yang dicelup adonan yang terbuat dari campuran tepung terigu, telur, dan susu yang kemudian digoreng dalam minyak goreng. Tepung terigu atau tepung jagung biasanya digunakan untuk merekatkan bahan. Jagung bonggolan (jagung utuh) atau jagung kalengan juga lazim digoreng. Apel goreng juga digemari di Amerika. Variasi lainnya adalah semacam bakso kepiting atau bakso kerang goreng serta zucchini goreng.
