Goblin

Goblin adalah sejenis makhluk supranatural yang muncul dalam dongeng-dongeng dan kisah-kisah fiksi fantasi. Mereka memiliki tinggi berkisar antara 30 cm sampai dengan 2 m. Biasanya kulit mereka berwarna hijau seperti daun. Dalam cerita rakyat Eropa, Goblin merupakan bangsa peri atau makhluk supranatural. Ukuran tubuh mereka kecil dan kadang kala tidak terlihat oleh mata manusia. Mereka dilukiskan sebagai makhluk mungil berwarna hijau dan bertelinga runcing.

Goblin juga digambarkan sebagai makhluk aneh kerdil, nakal, bahkan terkadang jahat. Mereka dikaitkan dengan berbagai kemampuan, temperamen dan penampilan yang semuanya tergantung pada cerita dan negara asal. Dalam beberapa kasus, Goblin telah diklasifikasikan sebagai makhluk kecil yang terus-menerus mengganggu dan memiliki berbagai kemampuan magis. Mereka juga sangat serakah dan cinta emas atau jenis perhiasan.^[1] Goblin juga erat kaitannya dengan api dan memiliki kemahiran untuk menciptakannya.

Menurut versi lain dalam beberapa dongeng dan kisah fantasi, Goblin merupakan bangsa makhluk yang buas dan ganas. Mereka tinggal di gua-gua yang gelap atau di bawah tanah. Ras mereka diidentikkan dengan makhluk jahat dan merupakan petarung yang brutal. Mereka dilukiskan sebagai makhluk berbadan tegap seperti manusia, berkulit hijau, telinganya lancip, dan berwajah sangar dan mengerikan. Kadang-kadang mereka menculik bayi dan memangsa manusia.

Kadang kala Goblin juga memiliki keahlian dalam kegiatan perniagaan dan keuangan. Dalam kisah Harry Potter, Goblin memiliki kecakapan dalam perbankan dan dalam game World of Warcraft mereka memiliki keahlian dalam menjual rumah.

Ada juga yang beranggapan Goblin adalah makhluk bijaksana.
