Glutation

Glutation (bahasa Inggris: glutathione, GSH) adalah tripeptida intraselular berbentuk Gamma-Levo-glutamil-L-sisteinil-glisina, dengan berbagai kegunaan, antara lain, detoksifikasi, antioksidan, pemeliharaan status tiol dan modulasi proliferasi sel.^[1]

GSH biasanya berbentuk molekul reduksi tiol yang disebut GSH, dan bentuk disulfida teroksidasi. Konsentrasi GSH tertinggi terdapat di dalam hati.

GSH telah dikenal sebagai kofaktor anti-oksidan terhadap spesi oksigen reaktif dan senyawa lipid hidroperoksida, dengan enzim glutathion peroksidase dan golongan glutathion s transferase (GST). Meskipun beberapa spesi reaktif dapat membentuk adduct secara langsung terhadap GSH, umumnya reaksi adduct tersebut terjadi dengan senyawa GST sebagai katalisator.^[2] Senyawa berjenis thiadiazabicyclo-ONE-GSH (TOG) yang merupakan adduct GSH dengan 4-hydroperoxy-2(E)-nonenal (ONE) merupakan produk terbanyak yang terbentuk sepanjang stres oksidatif yang dimediasi oleh Fe(II) atau peroksida pada sel endotelial, kedua jenis senyawa TOG merupakan adduct GSH dengan asam dioksododesenoat dan asam dioksooktenoat, dua senyawa yang diturunkan dari terminus karboksi lipid hidroperoksida.

Leukotriena juga merupakan senyawa adduct GSH.
