Monsinyur Georges Henri Joseph Édouard Lemaître (pelafalanⓘ; 17 Juli 1894 – 20 Juni 1966) adalah seorang imam, astronom dan profesor fisika di Universitas Katolik Leuven. Ia adalah orang pertama yang mengusulkan teori perluasan jagat raya yang sering kali disalahhubungkan dengan Edwin Hubble. Selain itu, ia juga merupakan orang pertama yang menemukan hukum Hubble dan membuat perkiraan konstanta Hubble pertama pada tahun 1927, dua tahun sebelum artikel Hubble diterbitkan.[1][2][3][4] Lemaître juga mengusulkan teori ledakan dahsyat sebagai penjelasan mengenai asal usul alam semesta, yang ia sebut 'hipotesis atom primeval'.[5][6]

Ia adalah seorang imam yang sekuler, sehingga ia dijuluku Abbé. Setelah menjadi seorang kanon, ia dijuluki Monseigneur.
