Referensi

Garam Reinecke adalah senyawa kimia yang memiliki rumus NH4[Cr(NCS)4(NH3)2].H2O. Senyawa kristal berwarna merah tua ini larut dalam air mendidih dan etanol.

Struktur

Atom kromium dikelilingi oleh enam atom nitrogen dalam geometri oktahedral, sedangkan ligan NH3 mempunyai konfigurasi trans. Garam ini berkristalisasi dengan satu molekul air. Ia pertama kali dilaporkan pada tahun 1863.[1]

Menurut Organic Syntheses, NH4[Cr(NCS)4(NH3)2] dibuat dari perlakuan lelehan NH4SCN (sekitar 145–150 °C) cair dengan (NH4)2Cr2O7.[2]

Garam ini pernah digunakan secara meluas untuk mengendapkan amina primer dan sekunder. Ia juga beraksi dengan senyawa Hg2+, menghasilkan senyawa berwarna merah ataupun endapan merah.
