GPON

Pendahuluan

Gigabit Capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) adalah teknologi node akses yang diperlukan untuk memberikan layanan multimedia (Voice,data, Video maupun content-content yang lain) bagi pelanggan perumahan maupun bisnis. GPON merupakan teknologi FTTx untuk mentransmisikan informasi menggunakan media fiber optic.[1]

GPON merupakan teknologi berbasis FTTx, yang dapat berupa:

  • FTTH (Fiber to the Home)
  • FTTB (Fiber to the Building)
  • FTTZ (Fiber to the Zone[2])
  • FTTT (Fiber to the Tower)
  • FTTC (Fiber to the Curb)

Standard GPON

GPON merupakan standard ITU-T:

  • G.984.1: Gigabit-capable passive optical networks (GPON): General characteristics
  • G.984.2: Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON): Physical Media Dependent (PMD) layer specification
  • G.984.3: A broadband optical access system with increased service capability by wavelength allocation
  • G.984.4: Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON): ONT management and control interface specification

Arsitektur GPON

Arsitektur GPON terdiri dari:[3]

  1. Optical Line Termination (OLT)
  2. Optical Distribution Network (ODN)
  3. Optical Network Unit (ONU) atau Optical Network Terminal (ONT)

Optical Line Termination (OLT)

  • Sebuah perangkat yang menjadi titik akhir, yaitu root sebuah ODN,
  • menerapkan protokol PON, seperti yang didefinisikan oleh [ITU-T G.984].
  • menyesuaikan PDU PON untuk interface layanan kearah Service Provider. OLT ini menyediakan fungsi manajemen dan pemeliharaan untuk ODN subtended dan ONU.

Optical Distribution Network (ODN)

  • Topologi pohon (tree) dari serat optik pada jaringan akses,
  • dilengkapi dengan power splitter atau wavelength splitter, filter atau perangkat optik pasif yang lain.

Optical Network Unit (ONU)

  • sebuah istilah umum yang menunjukkan perangkat yang mengakhiri salah satu dari endpoint atau titik akhir yang didistribusikan oleh ODN,
  • menerapkan protokol PON (Passive Optical Network),
  • menyesuaikan PDU (Protocol Data Unit) PON untuk interface layanan kearah pelanggan.
  • Dalam beberapa konteks, sebuah ONU menyiratkan beberapa perangkat-pelanggan.

Optical Network Termination

  • Perangkat pelanggan tunggal sebagai titik akhir, yaitu sebagai leaf dari distribusi ODN, menerapkan protokol PON,
  • menyesuaikan PDU PON untuk interface layanan, kearah pelanggan.
  • ONT adalah sebuah kasus khusus dari suatu ONU.

Physical GPON

Physical GPON mengikuti standard ITU-T G.984.2,[4]

  • Media transmisi adalah fiber optic berdasarkan standard ITU-T G.652
  • Metode transmisi: Transmisi bidirectional menggunakan teknik wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) pada single fiber atau transmisi unidirectional melalui dua fiber.
  • Bit rate Downstream ( OLT menuju ONU ) adalah 1244.16 atau 2488.32 Mbps dan bit rate Upstream ( dari ONU ke OLT) adalah 155.52, 622.08, 1244.16, or 2488.32 Mbps.
  • Line code: Downstream dan upstream: NRZ coding. Metode ccrambling tidak didefinisikan pada layer PMD. Aturan level optical logic adalah:high level dari light emission untuk binary ONE; low level dari light emission untuk binary ZERO.
  • Panjang gelombang: arah downstream: single fiber: 1480 - 1500 nm, dua fiber: 1260 - 1360 nm dan arah Upstream: 1260-1360
