Enema kopi

Enema kopi adalah penyuntikan kopi ke dalam rektum dan usus besar melalui anus sebagai enema. Tidak ada bukti medis dan ilmiah yang mendukung klaim kesehatan positif untuk praktik ini, dan otoritas medis menyarankan bahwa prosedur ini mungkin berbahaya.[1][2] Enema kopi membawa risiko efek samping, beberapa di antaranya cukup serius, seperti infeksi, kejang, masalah jantung dan paru-paru, hingga kematian.[3]

Sejarah

Ide dari pembersihan kolon ini dimulai sejak zaman Mesir Kuno,[4] gagasan kopi sebagai substan yang ditambahkan kedalam laturan enema adalah bukan hal yang baru. Pertama kali dimulai pada tahun 1917, dan juga muncul di the Merck Manual sampai tahun 1972.[5]

Pada tahun 1920, para ilmuwan jerman menyelidiki efek dari kafein pada saluran empedu dan usus kecil. Max Gerson menemukan bahwa enema kopi memiliki efek positif pada saluran pencernaan. Gerson mengatakan bahwa kopi enema efek memiliki positif berupa detoksifikasi yang memberikan kontribusi untuk memulihkan kesehatan pasien. Ia mengaku bahwa tidak seperti saline enema, kopi enema melakukan menelusuri otot polos dari usus kecil, dan ke dalam hati. Hal ini, kata dia, merangsang sistem saraf otonom dalam cara yang sama kafein tidak ketika dikonsumsi secara oral dan diaktifkan pelepasan empedu di hati, dibersihkan bahkan lebih dari saluran pencernaan dan dikeluarkan lebih banyak racun dari normal enema. Dia mengatakan kepada pasien bahwa "kopi enema tidak diberikan untuk fungsi usus tapi untuk stimulasi hati."

Praktek dari pembersihan usus mengalami kebangkitan pada tahun 1990-an, dan pada saat ini, kopi enema digunakan sebagai alternatif pengobatan kanker.[6]

Efek dan bahaya

Beberapa pendukung pengobatan alternatif telah mengklaim bahwa kopi enema memiliki efek detoksifikasi yang cepat dengan "mendetoksifikasi" produk metabolisme tumor.[7] Tidak ada bukti ilmiah untuk mendukung detoksifikasi atau anti-kanker efek kopi enema.Namun secara empiris sudah banyak membantu pasien kanker.[2][8]

Kopi enema dikatakan dapat menyebabkan berbagai efek samping, termasuk infeksi, sepsis (termasuk campylobacter keracunan darah), sakit berat, ketidakseimbangan elektrolit, kolitis, proctocolitis, salmonella, abses otak, dan gagal jantung.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] Jika kopi dimasukkan terlalu cepat atau terlalu panas, bisa menyebabkan internal terbakar[17] atau dubur perforasi.[18] Namun jika dilakukan dengan protokol yang tepat belum ada laporan problem terkait penggunaan enema kopi.

Jika diberikan sesering setiap dua jam, kopi enema telah ditunjukkan untuk dihubungkan ke dua kasus kematian sebagai akibat dari ketidakseimbangan elektrolit yang parah, hiponatremia, dehidrasi dan pleura dan efusi perikardial.[19] AS Food and Drug Administration (FDA) telah memutuskan bahwa peserta penelitian harus memperingatkan risiko kematian dari enema kopi dalam studi yang menggunakan mereka.[20][21]
