Ellen Churchill Semple (8 januari 1863 – 8 Mei 1932) adalah seorang ahli geografi berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat dan wanita pertama yang menjadi presiden dari Asosiasi Geografer Amerika. Dia memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap perkembangan awal dari disiplin ilmu geografi di Amerika Serikat, khususnya studi geografi manusia. Dia adalah yang paling erat terkait dengan pekerjaan di geografi manusia dan determinisme lingkungan. Ia juga banyak mengikuti perdebatan tentang determinisme lingkungan.

Ellen Churchill Semple merupakan pengikut Friedrich Ratzel yang memperlemah paham fisis determinis atau geografi determinis menjadi pengawasan geografi. Menurut paham ini, faktor geografi terutama faktor fisis tidak lagi ditetapkan sebagai faktor yang menentukan kehidupan manusia, melainkan dipandang sebagai faktor yang mengawasi atau mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia.^[1]

Semple lahir di Louisville, Kentucky, anak bungsu dari lima anak-anak oleh Alexander Bonner Semple dan Emerine Harga.
