Ecdysozoa (juga disebut cycloneuralia) adalah salah satu pengelompokan hewan protostomia, termasuk Arthropoda, Nematoda dan beberapa filum yang lebih kecil. Mereka pertama kali didefinisikan oleh Aguinaldo dkk. pada tahun 1997, terutama berdasarkan pada pohon yang dibangun menggunakan gen RNA ribosom 18S.^[1] Sebuah studi besar tahun 2008 oleh Dunn dkk. sangat mendukung ecdysozoa sebagai pengelompokan alami.^[2]

Kelompok ini juga didukung oleh ciri-ciri morfologi, dan dapat dianggap termasuk semua hewan yang menanggalkan eksoskeletonnya (rangka luarnya) (lihat ekdisis). Kelompok yang berkorespondesi secara kasar pada Ecdysozoa telah diusulkan sebelumnya oleh Perrier tahun 1897 dan Seurat tahun 1920 berdasarkan morfologi saja.

Grup ini telah dites oleh sejumlah kecil biolog. Beberapa berargumen untuk pengelompokan berdasarkan teknik taksonomik yang lebih tradisional,^[3] sementara yang lainnya mengetes interpretasi dari data molekuler.^[4]^[5]

Ciri-ciri grup

Ciri paling dikenal yang dimiliki bersama oleh ecdysozoa adalah kutikula berlapis tiga yang terdiri atas bahan organik, yang diganti secara berkala bersamaan tumbuhnya hewan tersebut. Proses pergantian kulit ini disebut ekdisis dan memberi nama grup ini. Ecdysozoa tidak punya sperma berpenggerak silia, menghasilkan sperma yang kebanyakan amoeboid, dan embrio mereka tidak mengalami pembelahan spiral seperti banyak protostomia lain. Ciri-ciri lain yang ditemukan pada kelompok, contoh, Tardigrada, Pycnogonida, dan cacing gilig (Nematoda) memiliki faring triradiata.

Ecdysozoa terdiri atas filum-filum berikut: Arthropoda, Onychophora, Tardigrada, Kinorhyncha, Priapulida, Loricifera, Nematoda dan Nematomorpha. Beberapa kelompok lain, seperti gastroticha, dianggap anggota Ecdysozoa yang mungkin namun tidak punya ciri utama grup ini, dan sekarang ditempatkan di tempat lain. Arthropoda, Onychophora dan Tardigrada dikelompokkan bersama sebagai Panarthropoda karena mereka dibedakan oleh bidang tubuh yang beruas-ruas.^[6] Tahun 2008, Dunn dkk. menyarankan bahwa tardigrada dapat dikelompokkan dengan nematoda, menyisakan Onycophora sebagai grup saudara dari arthropoda.^[2]

Anggota Ecdysozoa yang bukan panarthropoda dikelompokkan sebagai Cycloneuralia tetapi biasanya mereka dianggap parafiletik.
