Dispersi

Dispersi atau pemencaran adalah peristiwa penguraian cahaya polikromatik (putih) menjadi cahaya-cahaya monokromatik (me, ji, ku, hi, bi, ni, u) pada prisma lewat pembiasan atau pembelokan. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa cahaya putih terdiri dari harmonisasi berbagai cahaya warna dengan berbeda-beda panjang gelombang.[1]

Warna Panjang gelombang
Ungu 400-440 nm
Biru 440-495 nm
Hijau 495-580 nm
Kuning 580-600 nm
Orange 600-640 nm
Merah 640-750 nm

Sebuah prisma atau kisi kisi mempunyai kemampuan untuk menguraikan cahaya menjadi warna warna spektralnya. Indeks cahaya suatu bahan menentukan panjang gelombang cahaya mana yang dapat diuraikan menjadi komponen komponennya[2]. Untuk cahaya ultraviolet adalah prisma dari kristal, untuk cahaya putih adalah prisma dari kaca, untuk cahaya infrared adalah prisma dari garam batu.

Peristiwa dispersi ini terjadi karena perbedaan indeks bias tiap warna cahaya. Cahaya berwarna merah mengalami deviasi terkecil sedangkan warna ungu mengalami deviasi terbesar.[2]

Sudut dispersi:

  • F = du - dm[2]
  • F = (nu - nm)b
    • dm = sudut deviasi merah
    • du = sudut deviasi ungu
    • nu = indeks bias untuk warna ungu
    • nm = indeks bias untuk warna merah

Catatan: Untuk menghilangkan dispersi antara sinar ungu dan sinar merah digunakan susunan Prisma Akhromatik. Ftot = F kerona - Fflinta = 0

Untuk menghilangkan deviasi suatu warna, misalnya hijau, digunakan susunan prisma pandang lurus. Dtot = Dkerona - Dflinta = 0

Jenis Dispersi[3]

Dispersi Kasar

Dispersi kasar atau suspensi adalah campuran heterogen antara medium pendispersi (zat cair) dengan fase yang terdispersi (padatan). Dikarenakan perbedaan fasa di antara kedua zat tersebut, maka fase terdispersi akan membentuk endapan pada dasar medium pendispersi. Contoh dari campuran ini adalah campuran kapur (CaCO3) dengan air.

Dispersi Halus

Dispersi halus atau dispersi molekular adalah campuran homogen antara medium pendispersi (zat cair) dengan fase yang terdispersi (padatan) sehingga fase terdispersi larut sempurna pada medium pendispersi (zat cair). Contoh dari campuran ini adalah campuran garam (NaCl) dengan air.

Dispersi Koloid

Dispersi koloid adalah sistem dispersi yang berada di antara dispersi kasar dan dispersi halus. Dispersi ini pada dasarnya adalah campuran heterogen. Contoh dari campuran ini adalah agar-agar.
