Disney Interactive Studios, Inc. (awalnya Walt Disney Computer Software, selanjutnya Disney Interactive dan Buena Vista Games, Inc.), adalah sebuah perusahaan permainan video Amerika yang mendunia. Disney Interactive Studios mempublikasi dan mendistribusikan permainan video dan hiburan interaktif di secara mendunia.

Sebagian besar game yang dirilis oleh Disney Interactive Studios biasanya merupakan produk yang terkait dengan waralaba karakter yang ada.[1]

Sejarah

1988–1994: Perangkat Lunak Komputer Walt Disney

Disney mendirikan unit permainan sendiri[1] Walt Disney Computer Software, Inc. (WDCS), dan didirikan pada tanggal 15 September 1988.[2]

WDCS umumnya menggunakan studio pengembangan pihak ketiga untuk merancang game spin-off menggunakan portofolio karakter yang ada. WDCS memiliki sedikit keberhasilan yang dikaitkan dengan eksekutif senior Disney karena kualitas produk yang rendah dan kurangnya pemahaman perbedaan antara film dan game. [3]

Beberapa keberhasilan pasar adalah game yang diterbitkan pihak ketiga berdasarkan fitur animasi Disney utama seperti Aladdin dan The Lion King pada tahun 1993 dan 1994 masing-masing. Hal ini menyebabkan perpindahan dari pengembangan sendiri dan penerbitan sendiri ke pendanaan dan pengelolaan pengembangan game dengan pihak ketiga menerbitkan game tersebut.[3]

Menggunakan formula gaya studio film, WDCS direorganisasi menjadi Disney Interactive, Inc. (DI)[3] pada tanggal 5 Desember 1994 dengan penggabungan WDCS dan Walt Disney Televisi dan Telekomunikasi[4][5][6][7][8]
