Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Daerah Perpustakaan Provinsi Kalimantan Timur

Badan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kalimantan Timur adalah lembaga yang mengurus perpustakaan di provinsi Kalimantan Timur.

Sejarah

Cikal bakal Badan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kalimantan Timur yang ada saat ini diawali dengan dibentuknya Perpustakaan Negara Samarinda berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan Dasar dan Kebudayaan RI Nomor: 116/1963 tanggal 19 Desember 1963.Selanjutnya melalui Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor: 079/0/1975 dibentuk Pusat Pembinaan Perpustakaan. Bersamaan dengan dibentuknya Pusat Pembinaan Perpustakaan tersebut, maka perpustakaan negara yang ada di ibu kota provinsi di seluruh Indonesia diubah menjadi Perpustakaan Wilayah Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. Tanggal 1 September 1980 melalui Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor: 0222/0/1980 Pusat Pembinaan Perpustakaan ditetapkan sebagai lembaga induk dari 27 Perpustakaan Wilayah Depdikbud di masing-masing provinsi.Dalam rangka penerapan dan pengembangan sistem nasional perpustakaan secara menyeluruh dan terpadu, maka pada tanggal 17 Mei 1980 melalui Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor: 0164/1980 dibentuk Perpustakaan Nasional Depdikbud, dengan mengintegrasikan lembaga-lembaga:

1. Perpustakaan Sejarah, Politik dan Sosial

2. Bidang Bibliografi dan Deposit pada Pusat Pembinaan Perpustakaan

3. Perpustakaan Museum Nasional

4. Perpustakaan Wilayah yang ada di 27 provinsi di seluruh Indonesia.

Sejalan dengan itu, Presiden RI memandang perlu menetapkan suatu lembaga yang khusus menangani perpustakaan secara nasional. Untuk mendukung upaya tersebut, maka diterbitkan Keputusan Presiden Nomor 11 Tahun 1989 tanggal 6 Maret 1989 tentang Perpustakaan Nasional RI. Dengan terbitnya Keppres Nomor 11 Tahun 1989 tersebut, nama Perpustakaan Wilayah yang ada di 27 provinsi diganti namanya menjadi Perpustakaan Daerah.

Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya, terbit Keputusan Presiden RI Nomor: 50 Tahun 1997 tentang Perpustakaan Nasional. Dengan terbitnya Keppres RI Nomor: 50 tahun 1997 tersebut, Perpustakaan Daerah yang ada di seluruh Indonesia kembali mengalami pergantian nama menjadi Perpustakaan Nasional Provinsi.Sejalan dengan ketentuan yang telah diatur di dalam Undang-Undang Nomor: 22 Tahun 1999 tentang Pemerintahan Daerah, maka Perpustakaan Nasional Provinsi Kalimantan Timur kembali mengalami perubahan nama sekaligus perubahan status. Melalui Peraturan Daerah Provinsi Kalimantan Timur Nomor: 02 Tahun 2001 tentang Perangkat Daerah Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, Perpustakaan Nasional Provinsi Kalimantan Timur ditetapkan sebagai lembaga teknis provinsi dengan nama Badan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kaltim.Adapun nama pejabat yang pernah memimpin Badan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kaltim adalah:
