Danau Dampelas (nama lain: Danau Talaga) adalah sebuah danau (danau dalam bahasa dampelas adalah: Hano) yang berlokasi di kawasan pantai barat Kabupaten Donggala, Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia, tepatnya di bawah kaki gunung Sitangke, desa Talaga, kecamatan Dampelas, sekitar 145 kilometer sebelah utara kota Palu.
Danau Dampelas biasa pula disebut Danau Talaga sesuai nama desa sekitar danau, namun secara umum disebut Dampelas sesuai bahasa dan etnis terbesar di wilayah tersebut. Pemanfaatannya sebagai sumber air untuk kebutuhan mandi dan mencuci bagi penduduk di sekitarnya. Di tepinya banyak tumbuh pohon sagu yang sengaja ditanam penduduk setempat sejak lama sebagai salah satu sumber pangan. Di dalam danau terdapat jenis ikan mujair (bau kandia), ikan lele, ikan mas (bau bulaan) dan terdapat salah satu jenis kerang (tude) menjadi sumber perikanan air tawar bagi penduduk setempat. Danau ini termasuk unik karena muaranya merupakan pertemuan dengan air laut perairan Selat Makassar. Setiap tahun di area danau dilaksanakan Festival Danau Dampelas sebagai kegiatan pariwisata budaya.
Hal yang unik saat air laut surut, air danau Dampelas ikut mengalir ke laut. Itulah sebabnya masyarakat setempat menyebutnya sebagai muara danau (bamba hano). Hal inipula yang menyebabkan ekosistem danau ini memiliki keunikan tersendiri dibandingkan dengan danau lainnya.[1]
Disekitar danau dapat ditemukan sebuah situs perkampungan suku dampelas dahulu yang oleh pemerintah distrik banawa utara dipindahkan di Desa Talaga Saat ini. disekitar perkampungan suku dampelas dahulu (sebelum dipindahkan) ditemukan beberapa meriam kuno buatan Portugis dari jenis yang paling besar hingga yang paling kecil, selain meriam juga ditemukan mata uang kuno, tembikar, mangkuk cina, dan peralatan makan dan minum yang terbuat dari perunggu. Dari beberapa mata uang yang ditemukan diantaranya ada mata uang dengan menggunakan huruf palawa.
Danau Dampelas memiliki mitos yang tidak terlepas dari legenda sawerigading, sangat erat kaitannya dengan mitologi Mahadia Dampelas yang menjadi cerita turun temurun oleh suku Dampelas, yang oleh Jamrin Abubakar seorang wartawan di Donggala telah menuliskannya dalam sebuah legenda dengan judul; Legenda Danau Dampelas.
