Dale Smith (lahir tahun 1967) adalah seorang penyair, penyunting, dan kritikus asal Amerika Serikat. Smith lahir dan dibesarkan di Texas dan belajar puisi di New College of California di San Francisco.[butuh rujukan] Setelah menyelesaikan gelar PhD-nya di Universitas Texas[1] di Austin, dia dan istrinya Hoa Nguyen yang juga penyair, sekarang tinggal di Toronto Ontario, Kanada. Karena dia juga menjadi seorang profesor asisten bahasa Inggris di Universitas Metropolitan Toronto.

Saat di San Francisco, Smith adalah asisten penyunting Penyair Muda Mike & Dale,[2] yang membuatnya terhubung dengan banyak penyair penting dari generasi sebelumnya serta penyair muda dari generasinya sendiri. Setelah pindah ke Austin pada tahun 1998, dia dan Hoa Nguyen memulai usaha penerbitan bernama Skanky Possum. Dari November 2003 hingga Oktober 2004, kemudian dari Oktober 2007 hingga April 2009, Smith menulis kolom yang hidup untuk Bookslut.[3] Puisi dan esai karya Smith telah banyak dipublikasikan, termasuk muncul dalam Puisi Amerika Terbaik 2002.
