Cum Laude

Cum Laude (berasal dari Bahasa Latin yang berarti dengan pujian) adalah predikat yang diberikan pada ujian di perguruan tinggi.[1] Ada beberapa predikat yang termasuk ke dalam Cum Laude seperti magna cum laude yang berarti lulus dengan banyak pujian dan summa cum laude yang artinya lulus dengan pujian terbanyak.[1] Setiap perguruan tinggi memiliki aturan yang jelas dan berbeda-beda mengenai persyaratan bagi lulusan yang berhak mendapatkan predikat Cum Laude.[2] Predikat ini biasanya tertera di dalam ijazah baik untuk lulusan sarjana maupun lulusan pascasarjana.[2] Di dunia secara umum, predikat Cum Laude hanya digunakan pada lulusan pascasarjana, tetapi di Indonesia, Amerika Serikat, dan Filipina, gelar ini digunakan pada lulusan sarjana.[2]

Secara umum, lulusan yang mendapatkan predikat summa cum laude memiliki Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif atau IPK 3.80 ke atas, magna cum laude memiliki IPK 3.60 - 3.79, dan cum laude memiliki IPK 3.40 - 3.59.[2]

Namun tidak semua perguruan tinggi memiliki persyaratan yang sama seperti disebutkan di atas.[2] Bahkan pada tahun 2012 lalu, Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Indonesia, Mohammad Nuh, mewacanakan predikat Cum Laude hanya diberikan kepada lulusan yang dapat melakukan publikasi karya ilmiahnya melalui jurnal dan sebagainya.[3]
