County Pingyao adalah sebuah county di kota setingkat prefektur Jinzhong, terletak di bagian tengah provinsi Shanxi, Tiongkok. Bagian kota tua Pingyao melestarikan banyak arsitektur Dinasti Ming dan Dinasti Qing, menjadi situs Warisan Dunia UNESCO serta merupakan lokasi wisata kategori 5A atau AAAAA dalam peringkat pariwisata nasional Tiongkok. County Pingyao berada di bawah administrasi Jinzhong, dengan jumlah penduduk pada sensus 2010 sebanyak 502.712 jiwa.

Pingyao, sejak abad ke-16 dan pada seluruh masa Kekaisaran Qing hingga akhir abad ke-19, menjadi pusat keuangan.^[1] Pada masa itu, terdapat 20 institusi keuangan di kota Pingyao.^[2] Rishengchang menjadi bank pertama dan terbesar saat itu, mengendalikan hampir setengah dari perdagangan perak Dinasti Qing, sebelum akhirnya bangkrut pada 1914 setelah Revolusi Xinhai.
