Cocotte (pelacur)

Cocottes (atau coquettes) adalah pelacur kelas tinggi (courtesan) di Prancis selama era Kekaisaran Kedua dan Belle poque.[1] Mereka juga dikenal sebagai demi-mondes dan grandes horizontales.[2] Cocotte awalnya merupakan istilah sayang untuk anak kecil, tetapi kata ini mengalami pergeseran makna dan mulai digunakan sebagai istilah untuk pelacur kalangan kelas atas dari tahun 1860-an.[3] Istilah ini juga digunakan di Wilhelmine dan Weimar Jerman sejak pergantian abad ke-20 (Kokotte).[4]
