Chandra Bahadur Dangi (30 November 1939 – 3 September 2015) (bahasa Nepali: चन्द्रबहादुर डाँगीListenⓘ) adalah orang terpendek dalam catatan sejarah, dengan tinggi 0,55 m (1 ft 9+1⁄2 in).[2] Dia memecahkan rekor Gul Mohammed (1957-1997), manusia dewasa terpendek yang tingginya 0,57 m (1 ft 10+1⁄2 in). Tiga dari lima saudara laki-lakinya memiliki tinggi kurang dari empat kaki, sementara dua saudara perempuannya dan dua saudara laki-laki lainnya memilik tinggi yang rata-rata.[3] Dia terdaftar dalam Guinness World Records.

Biografi

Dangi lahir pada tanggal 30 November 1939.[1] Ia tinggal bersama keponakannya di sebuah desa terpencil di Nepal sekitar 400 km dari ibu kota negara. Dia ingin melakukan perjalanan ke seluruh bagian negaranya dan dunia. Dia menyatakan bahwa dengan menjadi pria terpendek di dunia dan milik Nepal, ia ingin mempopulerkan desanya dan negaranya melalui gelar tersebut.

Pada tahun 2012, pada usia 73 ia bertemu wanita terpendek di dunia, Jyoti Amge dari Nagpur, India. Pasangan ini berpose bersama-sama untuk edisi ke-57 dari Guinness World Records 2013. Saat ini belum diketahui pasti penyebab medis yang telah membatasi tinggi Dangi.[4]

Pada 13 November 2014, sebagai bagian dari Guinness World Records Day, Dangi bertemu, untuk pertama kalinya dengan pria tertinggi di dunia yang masih hidup, Sultan Kösen, dalam sebuah acara di London.[5]

Chandra meninggal di Amerika Samoa pada 3 September 2015. Pada usia 75, di Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center di Pago Pago. Penyebab pasti kematiannya tidak diungkapkan, meskipun The Kathmandu Post melaporkan bahwa ia sebelumnya telah menderita pneumonia.[6][7][8] Ia telah berkeliling Pasifik Selatan sejak awal tahun ini dengan Samoa's Tupa'l Bruno's Magic Circus.[9]
