Buntuna, Baolan, Tolitoli — Desa Buntuna adalah salah satu Desa yang terletak diarah selatan dari ibukota Kabupaten Tolitoli, Sulawesi Tengah, dengan jarak kurang lebih 4 KM dari ibukota kabupaten, dan dapat ditempuh dengan kendaraan darat ( Bis, Taksi, motor Dll ) dengan waktu perjalanan 15 Menit dengan ketinggian 50 meter dari permukaan laut Desa Buntuna yang mempunyai luas wilayah ± 5,5 Km².
Desa Buntuna yang mempunyai lahan pertanian yang subur dengan mata pencarian penduduk 70 % bergantung dari hasil pertanian, 15% Industri Batubata, sedangkan sisanya 15 % adalah pedagang, dan usaha lain – lain. adapun Batas –batas desa Buntuna meliputi sbb :
· Sebelah utara berbatasan dengan Kelurahan Nalu
· Sebelah timur berbatasan dengan Desa Dadakitan
· Sebelah selatan berbatasan dengan Desa Lelean Nono
· Sebelah barat berbatasan dengan Kelurahan Tambun
Desa Buntuna terletak disebelah selatan Ibu Kota Kabupaten adalah salah satu bagian Dari 6 ( Enam ) Kelurahan dan 4 ( empat ) Desa Yakni Desa Dadakitan, Pangi, Lelean Nono dan Desa Buntuna yang ada dikecamatan Baolan Kabupaten Tolitoli.
Buntuna diambil dari Kata “ Buubuntu ” yang dalam Bahasa Daerah Asli ( Bahasa Tolitoli ) dapat diartikan sebagai “ dataran yang lebih tinggi dari kawasan disekitarnya “ . konon menurut cerita orang –orang tua dan sesepuh Desa Buntuna, pada saat Raja Tolitoli bernama Mohammad Syaiful Muluk Mujuddin Malatuang hendak dikebumikan, keadaan di Tolitoli pada umumnya sedang dalam masa musim penghujan dan hampir semua wilayah terdapat genangan air, sehingga dicarilah tempat yang tidak tergenangi air untuk mengebumikan Jasad Beliau, maka sampailah rombongan tersebut di Buntuna dan jasad beliau dikebumikan di Desa Buntuna.
Awalnya Buntuna masih merupakan bagian dari wilayah pemerintahan Desa Tambun sekarang Kelurahan Tambun, sedangkan wilayah Buntuna adalah Gabungan dari 3 ( Tiga ) buah dusun yang ada di Desa Tambun yaitu, Dusun Taupa, Tengah dan Limeongan dan menjadi Sebuah Desa Definitif pada tahun 2007.
pada tahun 2007 hingga saat ini Desa Buntuna telah dipimpin oleh beberapa Kepala Desa dan Pejabat sementara sebagai berikut :
a. Dusun Taupa
Berasal dari kata Molritaupan yang berarti bertemu, hal ini diambil dari dua buah gunung yang bertemu atau berpapasan.
b. Dusun Ogomoomut
Konon daerah ini ditumbuhi sejenis tanaman yang berbau harum yang sebagian pohonnya merampat ke air sungai sehingga air sungai tersebut menjadi harum, yang oleh masyarakat setempat dinamakan Ogo Moomut atau air harum.
c. Dusun Tamandayo
Kata Tamandayo berasal dari bahasa Tolitoli yang berarti Pegunungan atau bukit tertinggi, dimana di daerah ini terdapat sebuah gunung yang tinggi dari gunung-gunung yang ada disekitarnya.
d. Dusun Leok Langgii
Leok Langgii berasal dari kata Leok yang artinya Teluk dan Langgii berarti kegiatan memcuci rambut dengan menggunakan hasil cukuran kelapa yang oleh orang-orang setempat dikenal dengan istilah Coho
e. Dusun Limeongan
Limeongan berasal dari dua kata yaitu Lima dan Engan. Lima berarti Lima, yaitu lima orang yang menggali makam raja tolitoli di wilayah yang sekarang Dusun Limeongan tetapi gagal dimakamkan di tempat itu karena banjir sedangkan Engan adalah sapaan untuk orang laki-laki dalam bahasa Tolitoli.
