Buku Doa Umum (1549).

Buku Doa Umum (bahasa Inggris: Book of Common Prayer) adalah sebuah buku liturgi milik Gereja Anglikan yang dibuat dengan dasar keputusan parlemen Inggris pada tahun 1549.[1] Edisi pertama Buku Doa Umum diterbitkan pada masa pemerintahan Raja Edward.[2] Sebagian besar isi buku ini adalah karya dari Thomas Cranmer, seorang Uskup Agung Canterbury.[1] Buku doa umum ini berisi doa-doa harian, perayaan misa, prosesi, dan formula Perjamuan Kudus.[3]

Buku Doa Umum kemudian mendapat kritikan dari Martin Bucer yang menyatakan bahwa buku ini kurang Alkitabiah.[1] Selain itu, tokoh-tokoh reformasi juga ikut mengritik buku ini karena tata cara Perjamuan Kudus yang dimuat di dalamnya masih sangat Katolik.[1] Oleh karena itu, buku doa umum digubah kembali oleh Thomas Cranmer pada tahun 1552 dengan menambahkan lebih banyak unsur Protestan.[1] Kata-kata yang mulanya lebih Katolik dan mengasumsikan bahwa Kristus hadir saat Perjamuan Kudus selanjutnya mengikuti Zwingli yang mengasumsikan Kristus tidak hadir dalam Perjamuan.[2] Buku ini lalu mengalami revisi untuk kedua kalinya pada tahun 1662.[1] Pengubahan dan pembatalan Buku Doa Umum hanya dapat ditetapkan atas persetujuan parlemen Inggris.[1]
