Budaya Norman-Arab-Bizantium

Istilah budaya Norman-Arab-Bizantium,[1] budaya Norman-Sisilia[2] atau (istilah yang tidak terlalu inklusif) budaya Norman-Arab,[3] (kadang-kadang disebut "peradaban Norman-Arab")[4][5][6][7] mengacu pada interaksi antara budaya Norman, Arab dan Romawi Timur setelah penaklukan Norman di Sisilia dari tahun 1061 hingga sekitar tahun 1250. Peradaban ini dihasilkan oleh pertukaran budaya dan ilmu pengetahuan dan dilandaskan pada toleransi Norman terhadap warga yang berbahasa Yunani atau yang beragama Islam.[8] Akibatnya, Sisilia di bawah kekuasaan bangsa Norman menjadi tempat berinteraksinya budaya Norman-Katolik, Bizantium-Ortodoks dan Arab-Islam.

Kekuasaan Norman di Sisilia berakhir pada tahun 1198 dan digantikan oleh Dinasti Hohenstaufen. Pada tahun 1224, Friedrich II memadamkan pemberontakan religius di Sisilia dan mengusir semua Muslim dari pulau tersebut.
