Kehidupan awal dan pendidikan
Trost lahir pada 1981 di Los Angeles, California, dari pasangan Karen (née French)[1] dan Ron Trost, seorang koordinator efek khusus.
Kakeknya, Scott Maitland, adalah seorang asisten sutradara,[2] dan buyutnya adalah seorang pemeran pengganti. Pamannya adalah aktor Victor French.[3]
