Boom Overture merupakan pesawat terbang supersonik eksperimental yang sedang dikembangkan oleh Boom Technology, perusahaan dirgantara yang bermarkas di Dove Valley, Colorado, Amerika Serikat. Overture, yang dijuluki 'Anak Concorde', dirancang agar dapat terbang dengan kecepatan mencapai Mach 1,7 (mendekati 2 kali kecepatan suara), memiliki jarak tempuh maksimum 4250 NM (7867 km), dan dapat menampung sekitar 64-80 penumpang.[1][2]

Nantinya pesawat ini akan ditenagai oleh 4 mesin (non-afterburning) yang dipasang pada sayap, memungkinkannya untuk lepas landas pada thrust setting yang lebih rendah, sehingga dapat membantu Overture mengurangi tingkat kebisingan.[3][4] Di samping itu, Overture juga dilengkapi dengan sistem reduksi kebisingan otomatis pertama di dunia. Boom mengatakan akan memulai produksi purwarupa (prototype) pada 2024.[2]

Menurut jadwal, peluncuran akan dilakukan pada 2026, tes terbang pada 2027, dan mendapat izin untuk membawa penumpang pada 2029.[4][5]

Konstruksi terkait Overture yang saat ini sedang dikerjakan adalah Overture Superfactory, tempat produksi Overture seluas sekitar 62 ac (25,09 ha) di Bandar Udara Internasional Piedmont Triad, Carolina Utara yang direncanakan selesai pada 2024, dan The Iron Bird, fasilitas seluas 70.000 ft² (0,65 ha) di Centennial, Colorado yang nantinya digunakan untuk menguji dan mengintegrasikan komponen-komponen dan sistem, software, dan hardware.[6][7][8][9]

Pemesanan

Pada 2017, Japan Airlines (JAL) mengumumkan kemitraan strategis dengan Boom Technology. Sebagai bagian dari kerja sama tersebut, JAL memberikan investasi sebesar 10 juta dolar AS dan mengamankan opsi untuk membeli 20 unit Overture.[1] Pada Juni 2021, United Airlines mengumumkan komitmen untuk membeli 15 unit, disusul oleh American Airlines yang menempatkan pemesanan sebanyak 20 unit pada Agustus 2022.[10]
