Biaya pengelolaan

Dalam industri penasehat investasi, biaya pengelolaan adalah pembayaran berkala yang dibayarkan oleh dana investasi kepada penasehat investasi dana untuk layanan manajemen investasi dan portofolio. Seringkali, biaya tidak hanya mencakup layanan penasihat investasi, tetapi juga layanan administrasi.^[1] Biasanya, biaya dihitung sebagai persentase dari aset yang dikelola.

Reksa dana

Dalam reksa dana, biaya pengelolaan akan mencakup semua biaya yang dibayarkan kepada penasihat investasi reksa dana atau afiliasinya, dan biaya administrasi yang dibayarkan kepada penasihat investasi yang tidak termasuk dalam "Pengeluaran Lain" kategori.^[2] Biaya pengelolaan yang dibayarkan kepada reksa dana dan perusahaan investasi terdaftar lainnya ditetapkan dalam perjanjian penasehat yang harus disetujui oleh dewan direksi dan pemegang saham; secara umum, biaya ini diatur secara ketat di bawah Undang-Undang Perusahaan Investasi tahun 1940.^[3]

Dana ekuitas swasta

Dalam dana ekuitas swasta, biaya pengelolaan adalah pembayaran tahunan yang dilakukan oleh mitra terbatas dalam dana tersebut kepada pengelola dana (misalnya, perusahaan ekuitas swasta) untuk membayar operasi investasi perusahaan ekuitas swasta tersebut.^[4]

Seringkali biaya manajemen pada awalnya didasarkan pada total komitmen investor terhadap dana (yaitu, ukuran dana) saat investasi dilakukan. Setelah periode komitmen berakhir, biasanya 4-6 tahun, dasar penghitungan biaya akan berubah menjadi dasar biaya dana, dikurangi investasi yang telah direalisasi atau dihapuskan.

Tingkat biaya pengelolaan akan berkisar dari 1,0% hingga 2,0% per tahun selama periode komitmen awal dan kemudian akan sering diturunkan sebesar 0,5–1,0% dari tingkat awal melalui penghentian dana.

Biasanya, manajer juga akan menerima biaya insentif berdasarkan kinerja dana, yang dikenal sebagai carried interest.

Dana lindung nilai

Dalam dana lindung nilai, biaya manajemen dihitung sebagai persentase dari nilai aset bersih dana (total akun modal investor) pada saat biaya menjadi terutang. Biaya manajemen biasanya berkisar dari 1% hingga 4% per tahun, dengan 2% sebagai angka standar. Oleh karena itu, jika suatu dana memiliki $1 miliar aset pada akhir tahun dan membebankan biaya manajemen 2%, biaya manajemen akan menjadi $20 juta. Biaya manajemen biasanya dinyatakan sebagai persentase tahunan tetapi keduanya dihitung dan dibayarkan setiap bulan (atau terkadang triwulanan atau mingguan) dengan tarif tahunan.
