Kontroversi

Pada bulan Oktober 2014, surat kabar The Guardian melaporkan bahwa perusahaan ini menerima uang taruhan dari warga Tiongkok dengan menggunakan nama domain yang aneh untuk menghindari sensor web pemerintah.[2]

Pada tahun 2016, Bet365 didenda $2,75 juta AUD karena iklan menyesatkan yang menjanjikan "taruhan gratis" kepada pelanggan.[3]

Denise Coates menjadi eksekutif dengan bayaran tertinggi di Inggris pada tahun 2017, dengan gaji sebesar £217 juta.[4] Pada tahun 2018, paket pembayarannya naik menjadi £265 juta karena perusahaan melaporkan laba naik 31% menjadi £660 juta, yang memicu kritik dari kelompok amal perjudian.[5] Pada Januari 2019, Bet365 menempati peringkat kedua dalam daftar The Sunday Times dari pembayar pajak utama Inggris, yang berasal dari keluarga Coates – Denise, John dan Peter – membayar perkiraan total pajak sebesar £156 juta, di mana £99 jutanya dibayar oleh Denise.[6]

Kritik lebih lanjut menyoroti kasus berulang dari penundaan Bet365 atau penolakan langsung pembayaran kepada pemain yang menang. Misalnya, Bet365 dibawa ke pengadilan karena menolak membayar lebih dari £1 juta untuk pemenang dalam taruhan kuda di Irlandia Utara pada tahun 2017.[7] Perusahaan juga menolak pembayaran sebesar £54,000 kepada seorang penumpang di Inggris pada tahun 2016, dan berlangsung hingga tahun 2017.[8][9] Di Australia, Bet365 membekukan akun dan menolak membayar penumpang yang telah memenangkan sekitar $200.000 AUD pada tahun 2016.[10] Itu hanyalah beberapa contoh yang terkenal; ada kasus dimana Bet365 yang menolak untuk membayar kemenangan telah dilaporkan oleh para penjudi di forum perjudian internet.[11][12]
