Benteng Sira adalah situs militer di Aden, Yaman. Benteng ini aslinya berasal dari abad ke-11, dan sampai sekarang masih digunakan oleh pihak Militer Yaman.[1]

Terletak di Pulau Sira, yang merupakan sebuah gunung berapi berbatu dan tinggi yang mendominasi pelabuhan lama Aden, sebagian besar sejarah benteng tidak diketahui, terutama karena masih minimnya penelitian arkeologi yang dilakukan di daerah tersebut. Salah satu teori adalah bahwa konstruksi dimulai sekitar tahun 1173 oleh penguasa Turki Aden yang bernama Pangeran Othman Al-Zangabili Al-Takriti.[2]

Benteng ini terbukti ketangguhannya selama terjadi serangan terhadap Aden oleh Kekaisaran Portugis dan khususnya Kekaisaran Ottoman pada 1517. Meskipun pelabuhan kuno mulai tertimbun lumpur dan pusat komersial utama akhirnya pindah ke sisi lain di semenanjung Aden, Kerajaan Inggris tetap menjaga benteng ini setelah kedatangan mereka pada tahun 1839.[2]
