Babi berjenggot[3] (Sus barbatus) atau babi janggut, adalah sejenis babi liar (babi hutan) yang menyebar di Semenanjung Malaya, Sumatra, Kalimantan, dan Kepulauan Sulu. Babi palawan (S. ahaenobarbus) sebelumnya dimasukkan sebagai anak jenis babi berjenggot, tetapi kini dianggap sebagai spesies tersendiri.

Babi berjenggot berukuran cukup besar; hewan jantan mencapai panjang tubuh 1520 mm, yang betina sedikit lebih kecil; tinggi bahunya hingga 90 cm dan beratnya mencapai 120 kg, meskipun kebanyakan antara 57–83 kg.[3]

Babi muda berwarna kehitaman; sedangkan yang dewasa lebih pucat, dari abu-abu kuning hingga putih bungalan. Kepala panjang dengan rambut keras serupa jenggot di sepanjang rahang bawah, dan dua pasang tonjolan daging serupa kutil di atas kedua sisi mulut ditumbuhi rambut-rambut panjang, kaku, keputih-putihan.[3]

Kebiasaan

Babi berjenggot biasanya aktif di malam hari (nokturnal), namun di siang hari yang sejuk pun kadang-kadang binatang ini mau berkeliaran. Makanannya berupa buah-buahan yang jatuh dari pohon dan biji-bijian, akar-akaran, terna, serta berbagai bagian tumbuhan lainnya; hewan-hewan kecil seperti cacing tanah, serangga dan sebangsanya.[3]

Babi betina membuat sarang dari daun-daunan dan semak-semak yang dicabik-cabik dan dilonggokkan untuk tempat melahirkan anak-anaknya. Biasanya betina melahirkan 3-11 ekor setiap kali beranak.[3]
