Babakan adalah desa di kecamatan Ciparay, Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia.
Desa Babakan berada pada ketinggian 750 mdpl dengan banyaknya curah hujan 70 mm/tahun, kondisi tanah (topografi) dataran tinggi 70 meter kemiringan 45%. Dengan suhu udara rata-rata 28 Celsius sampai dengan 32 Celsius.
Struktur tanah berbukit dibatasi alam, meliputi sebelah utara sungai Cikukun, sebelah Selatan kehutanan dan pegunungan malabar, sedangkan sebelah Barat sungai Cicangri dan Timur dibatasi oleh jalan Desa.
Sedangkan jarak tempuh (orbitasi) dari Pusat Pemerintahan Desa ke Kantor Kecamatan 6.3 KM, jarak tempuh ke Pemerintahan Kabupaten 32 KM dan ke Pusat Pemerintahan Propinsi 31 KM.
Wilayah Desa Babakan dibagi ke dalam 5 (empat) Dusun, Yaitu Dusun Babakan , Kedokan , Cibulan, Lembang dan Perumahan Pasir Madur Endah. dengan jumlah RW sebanyak 19 RW (RUkun Warga ) dan 54 RT (Rukun Tetangga)
Desa Babakan berdiri diperkirakan pada tahun 1940 dan merupakan Desa induk. Yang setelah tahun 2003 dimekarkan menjadi 2 Desa yaitu Desa Mekarlaksana yang merupakan Desa hasil pemekarannya. Nama Desa Babakan sendiri akronim dari nama permulaan yang menurut sejarah kata Babakan ini mengandung filosofi bahasa sunda yaitu “NGABABAKAN” yang artinya memulai pertama kali jadi Desa Babakan merupakan Desa pertama yang mulai terbentuk sejak zaman Hindia Belanda.
