Aus bin Abdullah

Beliau adalah Aus bin Abdullah bin Hujr[1] Al-Aslamiy Al-'Arajiy (Bahasa Arab : أوس بن عبد الله بن حُجر الأسلمي العرجي), penambahan al-Aslamiy di belakang namanya menyiratkan beliau adalah keturunan Bani Aslam (Keturunan Aslam bin Afsha bin Haritsah), salah satu suku Arab yang masih berkerabat dekat dengan Bani Khuza'ah di Madinah. Nama panggilan beliau adalah Abu Tamim,[2] sedangkan nama al-'Arajiy menunjukkan bahwa beliau berasal dari daerah 'Araj -salah satu daerah yang terletak antara Makkah dan Madinah-, sehingga para ulama ahli hadits memasukkan beliau sebagai penduduk Hijaz (hijaziyyin). Beliau masuk islam setelah Nabi tiba di kota Madinah, dan beliau merupakan tuan dari Mas'ud bin Hunaidah, seorang hamba sahaya yang mengabari kedatangan pasukan kafir Makkah sebelum perang Uhud kepada Nabi Muhammad sambil berjalan kaki.[3]

Periwayatan Hadits

Adapun perawi yang mengambil riwayat darinya adalah anaknya sendiri yaitu Malik bin Aus, Ia meriwayatkan sebuah hadits tentang kisah hijrahnya Nabi Muhammad yang didampingi oleh Abu Bakar dalam perjalanan menuju ke Madinah.[4]
