Atenisme

Aten.

Atenisme atau "Bidaah Amarna" mengacu kepada perubahan-perubahan yang digalang oleh Firaun Akhenaten dari dinasti kedelapanbelas Mesir. Pada tahun kelima kekuasaan Akhenaten (sekitar tahun 1348/1346 SM), Aten dijadikan dewa tertinggi oleh Firaun. Maka dari itu, Atenisme menjadi agama resmi negara Mesir selama dua puluh tahun. Namun, setelah Akhenaten meninggal, para penerusnya kembali memuja dewa-dewa tradisional dan segala hal yang berkaitan dengan Atenisme dan Firaun Akhenaten dihapus dari catatan sejarah Mesir.

Rincian teologi Atensiem masih belum diketahui secara pasti. Penyembahan satu dewa saja merupakan hal yang baru dalam budaya dan agama Mesir pada saat itu, tetapi para ahli tidak menganggap Akhenaten sebagai seorang monoteis, karena ia tidak secara aktif menampik keberadaan dewa lain. Ia hanya memutuskan untuk menyembah Aten saja.
